Admissions officers receive many more applications than they have seats to fill, and each year they turn away enough perfectly qualified people to fill those seats many times over. And admissions officers know that those people are perfectly qualified, that they could handle the work and thrive at their law schools. So admissions is really about choosing a handful from a large number of capable and tempting applicants.
Anna Ivey, from The Ivey Guide to Law School Admissions. This is a great guide, but it has been most effective in showing me how incredibly underprepared I am for the entire process.
